Next week we will be sharing our work in our portfolio presentations. This is probably one of my favorite things that I do as the TAAP teacher! I love to see the students demonstrating what they have learned over the course of the past 6 weeks. Last week all LV classes finished reading their texts- 4th graders finished Pegasus by Mary O'Hearn. They are excited about reading other books in this series. 5th graders have finished The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and the 6th graders have finished Black Ships Before Troy - a narrative account of the Iliad by Rosemary Sutcliff.
In STEM the 4th and 5th graders are finishing up a study of Tinker Cad and how to design objects for the 3D printer. 4th graders have also been thinking about Earth Science and ways in which the earth moves and changes. 5th graders have briefly looked at procedural engineering and how the steps taken in a process can change the outcome if done in varying order. This week we experimented with making puffed rice treats with different variables in the procedures. The 6th graders are still battling the zombie virus and learning about how to create a PSA (Public Service Announcement) that will inform the public without stirring up widespread panic.
I am looking forward to seeing parents next week for our Portfolio Presentations!
